4 Great Kid-Friendly Activities for Families in Flagstaff, AZRaising a family is pretty challenging, and one of the greatest tests of a parent’s creativity can be coming up with new activities to keep everyone happy and entertained. Luckily for residents of Cottonwood, there are a range of great kid-friendly activities right here in town.

1. Pioneer Museum

For a fun day out with the opportunity to learn about local heritage, look no further than the Pioneer Museum! Housed in a historic building, this fascinating museum showcases a range of artifacts and interactive visits, allowing visitors to reconnect with the past.

Expert staff greet visitors at the door and show them around, offering a glimpse into the tough and exciting lives of early Arizona pioneers. There’s even a preserved, early 20th-century steam train which is a big hit with visiting kids. The museum is open from 10am to 2pm, Tuesday through Saturday. General admission is priced at $12 for adults and $6 for kids.

2. Mt Elden Lookout Trail

If you’re an outdoor loving family, what could be better than taking a hike? There are plenty of options around town for you to enjoy breathtaking views and local wildlife sightings, but one of the best is Mt. Elden Lookout Trail. Running for several miles, this well-maintained path leads to the lookout point at the top of the mountain, allowing hikers to enjoy unimpeded views of Flagstaff and its surroundings.

Please note, this trail features plenty of elevation, so may not be suitable for those with limited mobility. There is limited shade on offer, so be sure to bring plenty of water and sunscreen. Find the trailhead and parking off Highway 89, past the entrance to Flagstaff Mall.

3. North Pole Experience

Temperatures in Flagstaff are normally pretty high all year round, but each winter the North Pole Experience whisks visitors away on a magical journey to the home of Santa Claus himself! Kids will love exploring the Elf University, Mrs. Claus’ Bakery, Santa’s Workshop, and many more fun and imaginative areas while interacting with Santa and his helpers.

This magical seasonal experience is open in November and December only. Opening 7 days a week during those months, visitors can choose a daytime or nighttime experience, with prices varying depending on the month and time of day. Check the website before you go for details.

4. Lowell Observatory

The sky above us is often something we take for granted, but it’s also a treasure trove of wonder. Lowell Observatory gives Flagstaff residents the perfect opportunity to learn more about the night sky, offering tours, stargazing events, and more.

One of the oldest observatories in the country, Lowell Observatory is the perfect destination for anyone with an interest in science or just the world around them. It’s open daily, from 9:30am to 11pm, with regular events throughout the year.

To get around all these great activities and discover more family favorites, you’re going to need a top-quality vehicle. Come on down to Oxendale Chrysler Dodge Jeep today for a fantastic deal on a new or used vehicle.
