Lakeview Campground

This campground has plenty of things going for it.  You can follow a short half-mile trail on foot or in a car to reach Upper Lake Mary. There you’ll have access to plenty of amenities such as fishing or boating. It’s also a great place to pack a picnic away from your campsite. Currently, there are 30 campsites at Lakeview Campground. The campsites were renovated in 2002 and have since become a favorite among tent campers with sites perched against stunning Ponderosa pine trees.

There are few amenities for campers, however water and vault toilets are available. Sites also include fire rings, picnic tables, and cooking grilles. Pets and short campers under 28 feet are also allowed at Lakeview’s campsites.

Canyon Vista Campground

Canyon Vista Campground is another spectacular Flagstaff area campground where you can expect a lot of outdoor fun and adventure. Of course, it’s also a great spot to just sit by the fire and roast s’mores. There’s a wide variety of natural vistas to enjoy such as forest trails and stunning mountainscapes. Wildlife observers and bird watchers will also enjoy staying at the clean well-kept campsites. The campsite caretakers have plenty of information about the local trails and outdoor opportunities in the area, so don’t hesitate to seek them out if you’re wondering what to do.

There are only 11 sites available, so it’s best to call ahead and see if any slots are open. Each site is large and capable of holding larger RVs and fifth wheel campers. There are two hiking trails nearby. One leads into a canyon while the other ascends it. Both offer stunning once-in-a-lifetime views.

Woody Mountain Campground

Another wonderful Flagstaff campground is Woody Mountain Campground. Regardless of what camping experience you’re after, you can create it or find it at Woody Mountain. It has several types of sites available including full hookup RV sites, primitive tent sites, and group tent sites.

For those looking for a more “glamping” type of experience, you’ll find the well-stocked general store and access to high-speed Wi-Fi a godsend. The bathrooms include showers with hot water, so you can get clean every morning or night after a day of outdoor fun. If you aren’t the best planner and find yourself short of clothes or took a dive into a mud pile when you weren’t expecting it, there’s a coin-op laundry station on-site to keep your wardrobe situation in check.

There’s plenty of ways to go camping in the Flagstaff area. The next time you want to pitch a tent and roast some s’mores by the fire, be sure to check out one of these three incredible area campsites.
