Car AC Not Working? Visit Your Cottonwood Chrysler Dealer TodayOur Arizona summers are hot, and your car AC is essential when the temperatures start to climb. The last thing any driver wants is to switch on the ac and nothing happens. To ensure you are always cool despite the heat, as your Chrysler dealer we want you to know some of the reasons for a car AC not working.

No AC

Your AC uses a refrigerant gas like R 134A, which is pressurized by the compressor and moved to the condenser when you turn on the AC. The condenser compresses the gas into a liquid and moves it to the receiver-dryer reservoir. Desiccants in this reservoir remove all the water from the liquid and it moves through the thermal-expansion valve which converts the high-pressure liquid to low pressure.

The low-pressure liquid enters the evaporator where it boils and turns back into a cold gas that blows through the cabin air vents. This procedure should happen every time you turn the AC on, but a lack of cool air means that you may be out of refrigerant gas, the cooling fans are damaged, or even that the AC unit is clogged with dirt and debris. Our technicians will investigate, and they will find fix the problem.

Strange Noises

Your AC normally makes no sound as it operates, so banging or rattling sounds when you switch on the AC means that something is wrong somewhere in the system. The problem may be as simple as a build-up of debris in the AC that is causing a blockage, or it can be a sign that either the compressor or condenser is failing.

Give our service center a call, and our technicians will investigate and find the cause of the noise. If one of the components is damaged, we can easily repair it or replace it with a new OEM part if necessary.

Bad Smell from the AC

When your AC is working correctly, it has no smell. If you notice strange odors when you turn it on, this can mean that you have mold in the AC or its vents. Mold spores will blow into the cabin each time the AC is switched on, and if you breathe them in they can make you very sick. For your health, and the health of your passengers, if you smell anything bad from your AC, call us right away.

Our technicians will thoroughly clean and fix your AC system and you’ll have clean, cold air again in no time.

No one likes driving on a hot day without the relief of an ice-cold AC to cool you down. A faulty AC won’t prevent you from driving or damage your car, but it will make driving a chore rather and a pleasure. If your AC develops a problem, call our service department at Oxendale Chrysler Dodge Jeep. Our technicians will fix the problem, and you’ll be cool as a cucumber in no time.
