5 Crucial Things to Know About the Standard Jeep WarrantyWhen you buy a new Jeep, you receive a warranty. It is the seller’s commitment to stand behind its product in case there are issues within the first few years. The warranty is not just for new cars but also for certified pre-owned vehicles. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) – the company that owns the Jeep brand – offers different types of coverage within the warranty. Here are five things to keep in mind about the standard Jeep warranty.

1. Different Types of Coverage

There are different types of coverage that comes with your standard Jeep warranty. For example, the Basic Limited Warranty applies to all car parts supplied by the manufacturer. The Corrosion Warranty covers the cost of repairing or replacing the sheet metal panels damaged by rust or any other type of corrosion. The Powertrain Limited Warranty applies to parts of the engine, transmission, and driveline. Each of these warranties has different durations and requirements.

2. Items Covered in Basic Limited Warranty

The basic warranty starts on the day you take the delivery of your vehicle and ends after 36 months or 36,000 miles on the odometer, whichever is earlier. Except for tires and accessories, it covers the cost of all parts and labor needed to repair any defective item that was supplied by the manufacturer. The car parts can be defective in material, craftsmanship, or factory production.

3. Items Not Covered in Basic Limited Warranty

The items which are not covered in the manufacturer’s basic warranty are tires, accessories, and customization products. They all come with separate warranties of their own. You can ask your car dealer about them. Also, unlike other car parts, brakes (pads, rotors, linings, and drums), wiper blades, and clutch discs have a warranty period of only 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first.

4. Modifications That Will Void the Warranties

Certain modifications such as installing accessories, applying rustproof products, etc., will not cancel the warranties. They are just not covered by them. However, tampering with the odometer or using devices that disconnect the odometer will void your warranties. Only technicians with legal authority to repair or replace odometers can do so.

5. Understand About Mopar

When you go through the warranty documents, you will come across the term “Mopar” a few times. It is the parts, service, and customer care organization within the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles company. When your vehicle under warranty needs a repair, your dealer works with Mopar to get the job done. Mopar also provides extended warranties available at Jeep dealerships.

Keep these five warranty tips in mind to make sure your Jeep remains in good condition for years to come.
