Almost every system and device in your Chrysler depends on electricity. It’s so essential that your car won’t start without electricity, as the battery supplies the electric charge that cranks your engine and allows it to start. Electrical problems can develop over time, and your Chrysler dealer can fix them for you. These are some of the possible issues we can repair.

Damaged Ignition Coils

Ignition coils play an essential role in your engine. During the combustion process, fuel and air mix in a precise ratio, and this mixture is then drawn into the cylinders. The mixture is then compressed by the piston in the cylinder and ignited by the spark plug.

A spark plug only produces 12 volts, and it depends on the ignition coil for additional power. A coil is connected to each spark plug, and it generates 30,000 volts, which is transferred to the spark plug to allow it to ignite the fuel-air mixture. Ignition coils can wear out, and they need to be replaced regularly. They can also be damaged by a worn spark plug or a fuel-rich engine. We can fix this problem by replacing any damaged coils.

Damaged Rectifier

Your alternator produces electricity for your car’s systems and devices, and it does this through a complicated process. The crankshaft turns as your car moves, and this causes the alternator to spin at high speed. As the alternator spins, it generates magnetic energy, which is captured by the stator and converted to AC.

Your car’s systems require DC, and the rectifier’s job is to convert AC to DC. If the rectifier fails, your alternator will continue to produce AC but this electricity is wasted as it can’t be used. Your battery will take over supplying your car’s systems until it fails due to a lack of recharging by the alternator. We can easily fix this problem by replacing the damaged rectifier, and your alternator will produce usable power again.

Damaged Battery

A car battery has a short lifespan. On average, you need to replace the battery every three to five years. A battery fails naturally as the chemicals inside it that allow it to store and supply electricity slowly break down and become inert. When this happens, the battery can’t retain an electrical charge and it needs to be replaced.

A battery can also be damaged by other problems in your car, for example, a damaged alternator. If your alternator is damaged, it might overcharge the battery by supplying more power than the store. This can cause the electrolyte solution inside the battery to boil. We’ll test your battery and repair or replace it. Our technicians will also replace your alternator.

Problems in the electrical system will grow worse if they’re not repaired and cause further damage. Call us today at Oxendale CDJR of Cottonwood, AZ.
